Recorded Whistles for Live Steam Locomotives
(Currently available only in Australia)
For large scale, live steam locomotives there are steam powered whistles available. The problem is that they very rarely sound like the prototype locomotive's whistle. The solution is an electronic whistle which plays recordings of the real thing and can be triggered by the same radio control which is driving the locomotive.
Installation is easy. Just plug the whistle servo lead into the servo 4 socket on your radio control receiver. Then locate the speaker anywhere on the locomotive but not too close to the burner.
The whistle will be triggered by the right hand button on the transmitter unit. You just need to check that the button is in momentary mode; not latching. This is covered in your radio control instructions.
MyLocoSound is currently building a library of recorded whistles. Each whistle set contains six instances of the selected whistle in a ZIP file. That ZIP file can be downloaded from this web page into your computer. You then extract the whistles into the Micro SD card in the sound unit. These whistle sets are free and you can swap them over at any time.
Each time you press the right hand button, one of the six whistles plays. More whistles are being added to the library all the time. if you want a particular whistle then e-mail us at sales@mylocosound.com.
