Note that, due to buffering, the sound may not play properly the first time you play it. The second time should be fine.

Ideal for both DC and DCC powered locomotives with quality
speaker included.

Requires no programming. Screwdriver operated volume and
horn tone controls.

Option switches controlling:
  • Rechargeable battery in use or not
  • Bell on for American locos or off.
  • Engine sound diesel mechanical or diesel electric
  • Single or two tone horn
  • Automatic horn sounding three times a minute
      or triggered by switch.

Dimensions
  • Soundcard  65mm long x 25mm wide x 12mm maximum height
  • Speaker      32mm long x 28mm wide x 15mm high

For DC sound, when stationary or at low speeds, the soundcard requires a 3.6v battery. NiMH cordless phone or similar batteries are suitable and will recharge automatically while running. Without a battery, the soundcard only works when track voltage exceeds 6 volts. There is more information about batteries here.

For DCC sound, the soundcard connects the horn to a function output and chuff input to the motor output

On DC, the Horn can be triggered by reed switch and trackside magnets or can sound automatically three times a minute. It also sounds automatically when starting from rest. Single or two tone horns can be selected through the option switches and the tone varied through the rotary control.

If option switch 5 is on then the sound of an airbrake releasing will be produced when the locomotive moves off from rest.

You can hear a diesel loco with two tone horn here. This recording is using the supplied speaker which is suitable for small diesel locomotives and railcars. For larger locomotives, it is recommended that a bass reflex speaker be used to obtain a deeper sound.

Ideal for installation in bogie diesel locomotives and diesel railcars. Small diesel locomotives can work with the soundcard installed in a sound trailer.

On smaller layouts or at exhibitions, you can also connect the soundcard direct to your controller to provide layout wide sound effects as described here

There is a short demonstration video of MyLocoSound small scale sound on YouTube.

Please note that high frequency track cleaners are not suitable for use with MyLocoSound soundcards
